Tipping your guide in South Africa:

It is a well-known culture in South Africa. It is customary to tip your guide if you have had a good time! This of course will only apply if you were 100% happy with the service rendered to you. In the case of Break-Away the people that will do their utmost to make your travels a time to remember are Nick the main man – with others that you will meet eg Stephanus, Phillip and others you will meet.

Tipping of the staff at guesthouse:

Please feel free to leave them a tip as per your appreciation. They will appreciate it a lot as they will do their best to make your accommodation perfect for your stay.

Please do not through away any food that you did not use during your stay. The staff will not understand this. Rather just leave it in your apartment for them to decide what they will do with it.

Tipping in restaurants:

The norm is 10%. Once again you will find the service received from your table attendant excellent as they work very hard for their tip as they get basic income and tipping is extra for items much needed.

If you are still in need for pcr testing or anti body testing please contact Martie.

Should you decide to do this trip of course it is also possible to do more than 1 night. I will quote you then.

Then there is also the Maropeng Visitors Centre – Cradle of Human Kind.

The Maropeng Visitor Centre is an award-winning, world-class exhibition, focusing on the development of humans and our ancestors over the past few million years.

Take a journey through time, starting with the formation of the planet and moving all the way through the evolutionary processes that culminated in the world as we know it today.

See fossils, learn about the evolution of the human kind, view stone tools that are up to one million years old, and much more. This self-guided, interactive tour allows you to take all the time you need to ponder humanity’s fascinating origin story.

This is a very informative trip but also enjoyable for the children.

LONGER TRIPS THAT IS ALSO DOABLE.

Then please remember I can also arrange for say a 3 night trip to the Drakensberg. But this time to the Southern part of the Drakensberg. You have been to the Northern Part. This is just very beautiful and we normally stay at a nice guest farm from where you can have sundowners one evening at the dam and then have a nice small walk and have lunch at nice place in the mountains etc.

Of course there is also the Kruger National Park.

Or combination of Mpumalanga and Kruger 6 nights make it the most relaxed trip but this may be discussed. Also doable is 3 nights in Mpumalanga and 2 nights in Kruger.

Drakensberg trip. This is also a much loved trip with from 2 – 4 nights. Lots of fun activities with beautiful nature and nice accommodation.

Of course our longer trips can be as long as you want with lots of experiences for young and old.

This is just a few of many things that can be arranged for you. We have recently done this trip with creat success.

Mpumalanga & Kruger. One of the old favourites

I typical itinerary will look like:

Day one – depart from guesthouse at 08:30 for your accommodation in the area of Blyde River canyon.

Day two – activities

Day three – boat cruise on Blyde River Dam and meet with Jessica Hippo.

Activities that will be included:

  • Eco caves
  • Boat cruise on the Blyde River Canyon Dam
  • Waterfalls – you will be able to swim under one of these most beautiful falls
  • Little hiking trails
  • Gods Window
  • Bourke Luck Potholes
  • Day four – depart for your accommodation at Kruger
  • Day five – Early start with drive into the Kruger – in the car of Break-away Lunch and little rest then back to Kruger for the Sunset Drive on the open safari car.

You can also add another day to the Kruger to make it 3 days as well.

Then the option  to Kruger and St Lucia. Very good.

You must just discuss with me what it is that you’ve in mind and I will arrange this for you!
